Research topics
The professorships and research groups of the Institute of Biology address questions in neurobiology and systems biology across various species – from giant amoebae to humans, from the molecular-cellular level to the entire organism. They support, in affiliation with local non-university research institutes (Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology, German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases), the research priorities of Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg (OvGU) and actively participate in the local research centers (Center for Behavioral Brain Sciences, German Center for Mental Health) and collaborative research projects (Collaborative Research Center 1436, Research Training Group 2413, Research Unit 5228).
